Preparing for a trip
Follow these steps to make sure you have everything you need in tripKeeper before you travel:

1. Create a profile for each traveller
  • Tap the TRAVELLERS tab
  • To create a new profile: Tap +
  • To access the profile detailed view: Tap i3
  • Add a photo by:
    - using the inbuilt camera,
    - selecting an existing shot from your Photos library, or
    - reading a PDF you have imported into the tripKeeper inbox (see how to in Frequent Task 1 on page 6)
  • Fill in details such as name and date-of-birth
  • To add details and pictures of travel documents such as passport, visas, licenses, credit cards and health cards: Tap +
2. Create a trip itinerary
  • Tap on the TRIPS tab
  • Tap + to create a new trip
  • To access the trip detailed view: Tap i3
  • Enter the trip name
  • To add the travellers on this trip:
    - Tap + in the TRAVELLERS section
    - Tap on the travellers you wish to add from the available travellers listed
    - When selected they are highlighted (not dimmed)
  • To add an item to the trip itinerary: Tap +
  • To access each item's detailed view: Tap i3
    - Select the ticket type and populate as many of the fields as you can
    - It's a good idea to add a picture of the ticket or documentation
3. Add Things To Do (TTD)
  • Tap on the TTD tab to enter events, appointments or sight-seeing ideas
  • To create a new item: Tap on +
  • To access the detail view: Tap i3
  • Select the Type and enter the Title, Date, Location and any supporting description or images
4. Add Contacts
  • Tap on the More tab
  • Select either the ASSISTANCE or FAMILY item
  • To create a new contact: Tap on +
  • Add the contact details for travel agents, insurance companies, family and friends
5. Add Luggage Details
  • Add details or pictures of packed luggage by tapping on the suitcase icon on each travellers page under the TRAVELLERS tab
6. Using the Spreadsheet Template
  • If you would prefer to collate the trip information on your desktop or laptop (or your travel agent can do this for you) then use the inbuilt Spreadsheet Template
  • Send the template via email to your desktop or laptop by tapping on MORE
  • Tap on SPREADSHEET TEMPLATE to create an email that includes the template as an attachment
    - Tap on SEND EMAIL
    - In the TO: field, add the address for an email account you can access on the computer you wish to use
    - Press SEND
  • When the email arrives at the computer, open it and follow the instructions in the email


While travelling
Managing your Trip Itinerary
  • To see the trip itinerary: tap on the TRIPS tab and select the relevant trip
  • If you wish to share a full copy of the itinerary: Tapaction
    - Select SEND TRIP DATA FILE to send a digital version to a fellow traveller who also uses tripKeeper
    - Select SHARE ITINERARY to send a simplified PDF version to family or friends via email
  • To see the full trip itinerary: Tap i3
  • To see a specific ticket or itinerary item: In the middle ITINERARY section, scroll to the required item and tap i3
  • To provide a copy of an image or PDF attached to a ticket:
    - Tap on IMAGES and select the item so it is highlighted in red
    - Then tap actionto send the item via email
To quickly find ticket info
  • Tap on the TICKETS tab
  • Scroll through to the relevant trip section and select the ticket you are interested in
  • To see the item detail: Tap on i3
Updating TTDs
  • Tap on the TTD tab
  • To see TTD item detail: Scroll to the required item and hit i3
  • New text from emails or web-sites can be added via copy and paste into the DESCRIPTION field

    • You can add a screen-grab of a web-site to IMAGES

  • You can add a PDF from an email to IMAGES
    - See Frequent Task 2 (p6) for details
Handling ticket confirmations
  • If you added confirmation information to a ticket, and checked the “Calendar Reminder”, tripKeeper will have added a reminder item to your Calendar app
  • A Calendar alert will appear prior to the time you need to confirm a ticket
  • Be sure to also tick the “Ticket Confirmed” box in the “DETAILS” section of the ticket item so you remember you have completed the task


Frequent Tasks
1. Importing a PDF document
  • In Mail, tap and hold on the PDF image or attachment icon
    - In Safari, tap on the PDF content being displayed, then tap on “Open in…”
  • In the popup that appears, tap on the tripKeeper icon
  • tripKeeper will appear and ask if you wish to proceed with the File Import. Tap on “Proceed”
  • The PDF has now been added to the tripKeeper Inbox
  • In the “IMAGES” section of TTD Detail, tap on + and choose “Inbox”
  • Tap the required PDF in the table to import it into IMAGES

2. Adding images or text from websites
  • If you find interesting travel information while you are browsing websites using Safari, use the following steps to add these items to tripKeeper:
Webpage or image
- Grab the screen image by pressing both the power and home buttons together and holding for one second
- The image is then made available in the devices Camera Roll, so can be added on any of the pages that have an Images section by tapping on
+

Webpage text
- Tap and hold on the text you wish to copy/paste until it is highlighted in blue. Adjust the blue dot handles to select the specific text you wish to copy, tap quickly to reveal the COPY and DEFINE buttons, then tap on COPY.
- In tripKeeper under TTD Detail, tap and hold in the DESCRIPTION field until the Paste button appears, then tap on Paste.

PDF document
- In Mail, tap and hold on the PDF image or attachment Icon
- Or in Safari, tap on the PDF content being displayed, then tap on “Open in…”
- In the popup that appears, tap on the tripKeeper icon, tripKeeper will appear and ask if you wish to proceed with the File Import. Tap on “Proceed”
- The PDF has now been added to the tripKeeper Inbox
- In the “IMAGES” section of TTD Detail, tap on + and choose “Inbox”
- Tap on the required PDF item in the table to import it into IMAGES

3. Backup and Archiving of trips
  • To back up an important trip, or archive a trip to free up space, simply email the trip to your email account:
    - On the TRIPS tab, select the trip you wish to archive by tapping on it
    - Tap on theaction button and select SEND TRIP DATA FILE
    - Enter an email address you can access from your computer and tap on SEND
4. Restoring an archived trip
  • On the computer you archived the trip to:
    - Attach the .tm data file to an email and send to an email account you can access on your iPad or iPhone
    - Open the email on your iDevice and tap and hold on the attachment icon
    - After a short delay, a pop-up will appear showing the applications that can open the file. Select tripKeeper.
    - When tripKeeper appears, tap on PROCEED to import the trip
    - Follow the import wizard directions to complete the import process

Support
To use iCloud storage you will need to have an active internet connection. Make sure your phone is not in Flight Mode and that you have either Wi-Fi or Cellular Data enabled and active.
